Everyone has learned and innate behavior patterns. This form of “human hacking” involves influencing people to call up certain behavioral patterns that induce them to reveal confidential information or to release funds.
There is no technology today that cannot be defeated by social engineering
Frank Abagnale
The social engineers are the modern form of "spies". They explore the personal environment of their victim, fake familiar identities or use known behaviors to get secret information. The most common case is the sending of malware to infect systems, whereby the victim's curiosity is exploited. Links are often sent to videos that, when clicked, begin the installation of the malware. The main purpose of social engineering is to penetrate and spy on third-party computer systems in order to view confidential data or to use these systems to attack other targets.
